Tanaga Site Visit
Jim performed a site visit to the Remedial Investigation Project at Tanaga, Aleutian Islands, Alaska. The project is being performed by the Army Corps of Engineers and is intended to characterize contamination remaining from the Army's use of Tanaga in World War II.
The weather wasn't suitable for the helicopter to fly so Jim rode the tug and barge "Sam B" from Adak Island to the camp on Tanaga and the fishing vessel "North Pacific" back to Adak. Some photos of the trip are below."

Surveyors were stranded on another uninhabited Aleutian island and constructed this raft from what they were able to find to paddle to their boat anchored off-shore.
